The contraceptive implant is now officially licensed for up to 5 years of use in the UK, instead of the previous 3 years. This change follows updated guidance from the UK medicines regulator, supported by strong clinical evidence showing that the implant remains safe and highly effective during years 4 and 5.
If you have already booked an appointment to replace your implant at 3 years, you may no longer need this appointment. If you are unsure when your implant is due for replacement, please contact the practice and our team will be happy to advise you.
