Nurses
Our nurses are available for vaccinations, health checks and routine screening (e.g. cervical smears, blood pressure). They can deal with minor ailments. If you feel you could save your own time and the doctors time by seeing them, please ask at reception. In addition our practice nurses are available for Asthma Review, Diabetes Review, Family Planning (including fitting of IUDs and emergency contraception), Cervical Screening and Teenage Health Sessions. |

Healthcare Assistants
Our healthcare assistants are able to do a variety of things besides phlebotomy or ‘blood-taking’ clinics each week. Such as attaching 24 hour blood pressure monitors or ecg's as well as holding CVD clinics. |

Practice Management
The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care. |

Reception
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits. |
Community Midwives
Our midwife works with the doctors to provide care for mothers before and after delivery. She holds an antenatal clinic Wednesday every 2 weeks from 09:00 - 11:20. All appointments are at the Evelyn Medical Centre in Hope. |
Community Nurses
Our district nurses may be contacted via the medical centre or on telephone number 01433 620821. They provide nursing services and advice to our housebound patients and those recently discharged from hospital. The nurses run a leg care clinic in Hope on a Wednesday morning 09:30 - 12:30. If you have leg problems e.g. leg wounds, ulcers or varicose veins, or if you have had in the past and would like advice, please ring us for an appointment. |
Health Visitors

Their major area of responsibility is visiting and supporting families with young children. Well baby clinics, child health surveillance, parent craft and post natal groups are just some of the activities in which they are involved. Counsellors
Counselling and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Our GPs can refer you to a counsellor or CBT therapist if you and they feel that is appropriate. Currently CBT is available at our Hope surgery and counselling is from Derwent Rural Counselling based in Bakewell. |
